Designed by noted acoustician Bob Alach, the main studio provides 14 x
10 feet of usable recording space on a reflective soft-pine floor, and
features RPG maple QRD diffusers, fiberglass/masonite bass traps,
symmetric construction, and other design features to provide a pristine,
transparent environment, with near-flat, phase-correct response at the
listening position. The acoustical suspended ceiling allows
low-frequency sounds to take advantage of the full volume provided by
the sloping, 14-foot-high roof, while high-frequency sounds are absorbed
or diffused by additional RPG Omniffusor panels. Monitoring is
through a pair of SLS S8R mains, fed by the HUI's custom-modified analog
preamp section through a Bryston 4B amplifier and then through a
custom-modified Klark-Teknik DN-410 parametric.
